Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2, 2026

Amber Diary ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is handled, and your rights.

1. Data You Create

Journal entries, tags, and all content you create are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is encrypted end-to-end (AES-256-GCM) before leaving your device. The encryption key is stored in your iCloud Keychain and is never accessible to us.

We cannot read your journal entries — even with iCloud sync enabled.

2. On-Device AI Processing

Amber Diary uses Apple's built-in Natural Language framework to analyze your writing for features like semantic search, auto-tagging, and similar entry recommendations. All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No text is sent to any external server or cloud AI service.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

4. iCloud Sync

iCloud sync is optional. When enabled, encrypted data is stored in your private iCloud container managed by Apple. We do not operate any servers that store your data. Apple's iCloud privacy practices apply to the storage of encrypted data. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple's terms and privacy policy govern all transactions.

6. Face ID / Touch ID

If you enable the app lock feature, biometric data is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework on your device. We never access or store biometric data.

7. Children's Privacy

Amber Diary is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
